The Chief Executive Officer is the Senior Officer of the Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council and is responsible for implementing the policies and decisions of the Local government and managing the council’s day to day business and operations. Through the authority of the CEO, this team is delegated the responsibility to implement adopted Council Policy, Corporate Plan and Operational Plan.
Lothar joined Council in January 2017 as the Chief Executive Officer.
Lothar was previously the Mayor of West Arnhem Regional Council – Northern Territory. Lothar served as an elected member and Mayor of West Arnhem Regional Council for almost 5 years.
With an extensive history in local government, Lothar has been proactive in creating local employment, business opportunities, housing for locals and was a strong force behind in the restoration of the West Arnhem Regional Council to a strong and viable financial council.
Lothar is a strong leader who has already made an incredible impact on the Doomadgee Community and is leading the way in the continuous improvement of Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council

“Garry Jeffries has been employed full time with Council for more than three years and he holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil). Mr Jeffries also brings with him more than 40 years’ experience in Civil Construction Project Management as well as Building Design and Certification.
Garry Jeffries has lived in the North West Region for more than 16 years and has extensive experience in regional Local Government. He understands the challenges of working in rural and remote areas and the adversities that sometimes need to be overcome to develop and improve lifestyle in remote Communities.”

Juanita joined Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council in March 2017 and holds a Diploma of Local Government – Governance and Administration. Juanita is currently studying her Bachelor of Business externally.
With a passion for Governance and Working in Rural and Areas, Juanita came to Doomadgee to assist in the development of the Governance Department.
Understanding the importance of Good Governance and ensuring that staff understand and follow the key principles of Local Government will bring Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council together as one.
Juanita has a vast range of Local Government Experience, ranging from Administration, Finance, Procurement, Executive Support, Governance, Front Line Management, IT Systems and Support and Disaster Management.
Juanita has spent the last 6 years with the Flinders Shire Council (Hughenden) developing her skills in Local Government. Prior to Local Government, Juanita was working in the family bakery “Holden’s Bakery” in Hughenden for a number of years after having a break from the public sector – Education Queensland in the Administration Sector, and has over 15 years’ experience working in Rural Areas and Aboriginals Communities.
